In its peace-building work Pax Christi International attempts to encourage the development of conditions, attitudes and behaviour that foster and sustain social and economic development that is peaceful, stable and prosperous. To this end, it supports discreet, chronologically limited activities, implemented by Member Organisations.

Most of our peace-building activities are designed to contribute towards ending or avoiding violent conflict, and may be carried out during the violent conflict itself, in its wake, or to prevent a conflict from escalating to violence. Pax Christi’s peace-building work aims to be responsive to the particular context and tries to adapt to new conditions and requirements as the context changes.

In particular, Pax Christi facilitates and supports reconciliation and peace building processes, which help communities to look at the past and develop a path towards sustainable peace, rooted in justice and truth.
