CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION

From the perspective of conflict transformation, contemporary conflicts require more than the reframing of positions (conflict management) and the identification of win-win outcomes (conflict resolution). Conflict transformation is a process of engaging with and transforming the relationships, interests, discourses and, if necessary, the very constitution of society that supports the continuation of violent conflict.

PEACE BUILDING

In its peace-building work Pax Christi International attempts to encourage the development of conditions, attitudes and behaviour that foster and sustain social and economic development that is peaceful, stable and prosperous.

PEACE EDUCATION

Pax Christi International devotes a lot of attention to provide its members with educational material, which they can then use to introduce peace work to a larger audience.

INTERFAITH AND INTERCULTURAL COOPERATION FOR PEACE

One of the strategies of Pax Christi International is to promote and engage in inter-religious and multi-cultural dialogue and cooperation. Everywhere, on regional and local levels, people of all walks of faith re-prioritise the essential need for inter-faith action, in response to the pressing needs and concerns of the societies in which they live.

NONVIOLENT SOCIAL CHANGE

Pax Christi International is part of a very broad social movement for change in our world – which believes in the use of Nonviolent Social Change to promote peace.

DEVELOPING PEACE SPIRITUALITY AND THEOLOGY

By developing a spirituality and theology of peace, Pax Christi International aims to bring into public and political arenas moral and ethical principles on the issues of war, violence, justice and peace. We are convinced that a developed peace spirituality

ADVOCACY AND CAMPAIGNING

At the international level, Pax Christi International is engaged in advocacy work on behalf of the whole network. Through its representative status with international bodies such as the United Nations, UNESCO, the EU and the Council of Europe, Pax Christi International brings the experiences and concerns of its members in the Global Network to the international arena.

NETWORKING FOR PEACE

Pax Christi International increases the capacity and effectiveness of the movement and global network. Frequent continental and regional gatherings play a key role in facilitating consultations and exchanges among Pax Christi Member Organisations around the world.
