Children in Armed Conflict / Child Soldiers

An appalling number of abuses continue to be committed against children affected by armed conflict. Drawing on experiences working with field-based organisations around the world, Pax Christi International concludes that a monitoring, reporting and response mechanism will remain crucial in order to stop violations against children.

Pax Christi International supports Resolution 1612 of the UN Security Council and will also continue to advocate on issues regarding child soldiers and child abuse. Pax Christi supports local and community-based organisations working on these issues in order to increase their access to information on violations against children in armed conflict, their ability in some situations to take immediate action to respond, and the need for local involvement to ensure sustainability.
