Russia: Soldiers' Mothers commemorate the victims of political repression

Recently, our member organisation in Russia, Soldiers' Mothers, undertook an action to commemorate the victims of political repression. The action consisted of the dropping of flowers on the waters of the Neva near the building of the so-called Great House (NKVD-KGB, the FSB). In this building during Stalin's time of repression, tens of thousands of people died from torture. Flowers were lowered to the Neva River in memory of the victims of Stalinist repressions. Afterward the action continued with a visit to the Levashov Wasteland where 40,000 innocent people were shot in the forest and buried in the years of Stalin's terror.
