Pax Christi International's Africa Director attends training on peacebuilding in Senegal

 

2/10/18 - For the past ten days, Pax Christi International's Africa director, Dieudonne Serukabuza, has been in Dakar in Senegal attending the Institute for Peacebuilding in Africa. The institute is sponsored by Catholic Relief Services.

The training focused on approaches, methodologies, case studies, conflict resolution and reconciliation within the context of peacebuilding in Africa. The 28 participants are from Egypt, Burkina Faso, USA, Belgium, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Guinea,  Cameroon, Togo, Mali, Kenya and Madagascar.

Participants visited sites throughout Dakar, the capital of Senegal, as well as the historical island where captured Africans were transferred to ships to take them to America as slaves.

Serukabuza contributed presentations on Pax Christi International and our projects like the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative, Empowering new generations on active nonviolence and entrepreneurship (in the African Great Lakes region), Young Peace Journalists, and Latin America and the Caribbean: Between hope and violence.
