Pax Christi International supports the World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel, 17-24 September

The week of 17-24 September is the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel. This annual observance of a week of prayer, education, and advocacy calls participants to work for an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine, so that Palestinians and Israelis can finally live in peace. This year, 2017, marks several historic anniversaries of great importance to the history and development of the situation in Israel and Palestine and to the ecumenical community’s response to this situation – including 100 years since the Balfour Declaration, 50 years since the Six Day War of 1967, and 10 years since the 2007 WCC International Peace Conference "Churches together for Peace and Justice in the Middle East" in Amman, Jordan.

The Palestine Israel Ecumenical Forum (PIEF) of the World Council of Churches invites member churches, faith-based communities, and civil society organisations around the world to join together for a week of advocacy and action in support of an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine and a just peace for all in Palestine and Israel. Congregations and individuals around the globe who share the hope of justice shall unite during the week to take peaceful actions, together, to create a common international public witness. Pax Christi International is a supporter of the World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel (WWPPI) and many of our member organisations take part in observances and actions throughout the week.

One of Pax Christi International’s advocacy priorities is a renewed Israel–Palestine peace process.
