Monsignor Luigi Bettazzi awarded honorary citizenship of Bologna


On 4 April 2016, Monsignor Luigi Bettazzi, former president of Pax Christi Italy and Pax Christi International (1978-85), was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Bologna (Italy), for his commitment to the affirmation of a culture of peace and solidarity in the world, and for the promotion of human rights. During his tenure as president of Pax Christi International, he implemented peace initiatives in Latin America and the southern hemisphere. For this work, he was awarded the UNESCO International Prize for Peace Education.
