Lent 2017: #LiveNonviolence this Lent with these reflections and resources

In his World Day of Peace message on January 1, 2017, Pope Francis stated, "To be true followers of Jesus today also includes embracing his teaching about nonviolence." The season of Lent is that time of year when Catholics all across the world are examining their consciences, repenting of personal and social sin, and seeking to witness more vividly to the peace and justice that are explicit in Jesus's passion, death and resurrection. This is the perfect time of the liturgical year to take up Pope Francis's call to action regarding nonviolence, to embrace Jesus's "teaching about nonviolence". To that end, we're collecting resources here on this page for your use throughout the Lenten season to deepen your commitment to nonviolence in word and deed, in personal lifestyle choices and in action aimed at creating social change. Each week we'll be posting and sending out reflections connecting the themes of Lent and weekly biblical readings with our campaign promoting nonviolence. You'll see those reflections (and other resources) archived below, and we'll be sharing them over social media with the hashtag #LiveNonviolence.
