Iran and USA: Pax Christi International, Pax Christi USA, other member organisations sign statement against war with Iran
10/7/19- Members of Pax Christi International's leadership, including Bishop Marc Stenger and Sr. Wamuyu Wachira, co-presidents of Pax Christi International, have signed onto a statement being circulated in the USA for church leaders voicing their opposition to a US war with Iran. In addition to the co-presidents, Pax Christi International's Secretary General Greet Vanaerschot, former co-president Marie Dennis, Maryknoll Office of Global Concerns' Susan Gunn, Pax Christi USA's Bishop John Stowe, Robert Shine and Sr. Anne-Louise Nadeau, and others have also signed the statement, asserting that "Diplomacy is the effective and necessary alternative to what would be a disastrous and indefensible war."
Nearly 200 church leaders have signed this essential statement embracing peacemaking over warmaking.
On Tuesday, July 9 in Washington, DC, Marie Dennis, former co-president of Pax Christi International, joined several leaders for a press conference announcing the statement.
