Germany: Pax Christi Germany offers workshop for students interested in exploring racism through theatre

from Pax Christi Germany

19/3/19 - For the third time, Pax Christi Germany is holding a special meeting of young people interested in peace. This meeting is an exchange about current peace issues and opportunities for activities with and within the Pax Christi movement. After the great meeting in Leipzig last summer, this time a small preparation group is hosting a meeting in Cologne. All students are cordially invited to this meeting!

DATE: March 22, 2019 - 5:30 pm to March 23, 2019 - 7:30 pm, SESSION: IN VIA. Kath. Association for Girls' and Women's Social Work Cologne e.V., Spielmannsgasse 4 - 10, 50678 Cologne

The topic this time: Racism and our own entanglement. Racism is still an integral part of our society, the structural entanglements are omnipresent and we are all part of it. But what exactly does racism mean to me? How do I reproduce it and what possibilities do I have against it? Pax Christi is actively engaged as an international peace organisation against exclusionary processes in society. The aim of the Pax Studierenden Forum is to bring students into contact with the Catholic peace movement Pax Christi. Theatre play offers space to discover and experience familiar and new roles and behaviors. In the day workshop, we first deal with the basics of drama and improvisation. Then we design scenes, characters and questions for our own artistic engagement with moral and immoral beliefs. What causes discrimination? What role does my attitude play? What can I do? There is no need for an actor's experience. Every age is welcome and if you speak only a little German, we will find a common language!
