Democratic Republic of Congo: Project on nonviolence, entrepreneurship launches with first activities


25/7/18 - To empower young people on the prevention, management, peaceful transformation of conflicts and the peaceful claim of rights in the territory of Uvira in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Pax Christi Uvira asbl, in partnership with Pax Christi International, launched this past Monday, 23 July, the project called "Strengthening new generations on active nonviolence and entrepreneurship”.




















On the occasion of the meeting with the young people from the different movements of the parish of Notre Dame Aux Larmes of Mulongwe, the kick-off started with descriptive information of the project and planning, by mutual agreement, and the scheduling of the days of training sessions, as the first phase of the project.

The meeting was held in a classroom of the Institute of Notre Dame Aux Larmes of Mulongwe, in the presence of the Abbot Youth Chaplain of the Parish of Mulongwe and the Youth Coordinator of this parish.

As a follow-up, every Wednesday starting 25 July, a group of 50 young people will follow the training on active nonviolence, including modules on conflict prevention and management and nonviolent communication. In the meantime, the training will be broadcast on local radio stations through September 2018.
