Democratic Republic of Congo: Pax Christi Uvira to launch the second phase of the project on Active Nonviolence and Entrepreneurship in the African Great Lakes Region

 

11/11/18 - As part of the project "Empowering New Generations on Active Nonviolence and Entrepreneurship" in the African Great Lakes Region, started in March 2018 - the first phase of which took place from July to September 2018 - Pax Christi Uvira asbl launched last Sunday, November 4, the second phase of the training on "active nonviolence".

At the meeting, 18 students and 24 students, respectively of the Institute Notre Dame aux larmes and the Higher Institute of Development of Uvira, (ISDR-Uvira), as well as 42 other participants took part in the training session which started with a global explanation of the project, including its objectives, duration and expected results.

Afterwards, the session continued with the development of the first module on "conflict". On this occasion, the trainer suggested that conflict is a clash of divergent interests over a specific object, but which can also be peacefully transformed in order to build a more just relationship between the parties, based on tolerance and nonviolence.

In addition, the other modules on violence, nonviolent action, active nonviolence and trauma management will be developed progressively every following Sunday until November 25, 2018 in order to enable pupils, students, as well as the other beneficiaries of the training, to attend to their school obligations during the week.
