Belgium: Pax Christi Flanders Youth Ambassador pens column on migrants and refugees

January 15 was the World Day for Migrants and Refugees.
This day, instituted more than 100 years ago by the Catholic Church, was instituted to encourage a welcoming reception and healthy integration of migrants and refugees. Babs Mertens has been working for several years with Syrian refugees and wrote on the occasion of this day an opinion column for Deredactie, "I am Alissar from Damascus".
Barbara (Babs) Mertens works as a reception assistant in the Church led by Min-Bruges and was elected in 2016 to be the Youth Ambassador for Peace of Pax Christi Flanders.
