Japan: Protests against plan to revise Japan’s pacifist constitution

 

In the beginning of this month, thousands of people gathered in Tokyo to mark the 70th Constitution Memorial Day, which was also a protest against the Japanese government’s plan to amend the constitution, which enshrines the country’s pacifist principles. Read more here.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan announced on Wednesday a plan to revise a pacifist Constitution that has been in place since it was enacted by American occupiers in 1947. Read more here.
