DR Congo: Les Amis de Nelson MANDELA pour la Défense des Droits Humains organises workshops for transparency in the electoral process

Les Amis de Nelson MANDELA pour la Défense des Droits Humains (ANMDH), Pax Christi International's member organisation in the DR Congo, as part of its program "Capacity Building of Civil Society Actors" has organised for 2018 a workshop entitled, "Observation techniques for public events and documenting violations of human rights during the electoral process".

This effort, supported by the international NGO, "Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa" (OSISA), follows an awareness-raising and advocacy campaign on "The exercise of public liberties in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)" started in 2013 in collaboration with Civil Society Organisations, particularly Non-Governmental Organisations of Human Rights (ONGDH) and Local Human Rights Observatories (ANMDH).

The main aim is to contribute to the improvement of the knowledge of civil society and state actors on the exercise of public freedoms by its citizens, the observation of public demonstrations and the documentation of violations of human rights during the electoral process.
