Catherine Ashton must visit Gaza! (05/03/2010)

17 human rights organisations, including Pax Christi International and IKV Pax Christi, issued a joint statement on the 4th of March 2010.
With this statement, the EU’s foreign ministers and its High Representative for Foreign Affairs were urged to take a united stance not to bow to Israel’s recent practice of refusing entry to Gaza by foreign high-level representatives.
HR Ashton was in particular called upon to visit Gaza on her first trip to the Middle East in mid-March, to see for herself the devastating impact of the two and half year old blockade of Gaza on its civilian population.
