Call to Bishops of Europe on Nuclear Disarmament (20/11/2009)

The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community, COMECE, discussed the issue of nuclear disarmament at its General Assembly on 20 November 2009.
Fr. Paul Lansu of the International Secretariat spoke about the new opportunities and challenges in 2010 and further on. He focussed mainly on the importance of the next Non Proliferation Treaty Review Conference in May 2010 and on the USA Tactical Nuclear Weapons to be removed from European soil.
The aim is to come to a Europe free of nuclear weapons by 2015.
